Ong Thi Binh Yen

I am Ong Thi Binh Yen. I was born in 1999 and grew up in a rural area of Da Nang city. I graduated from Da Nang University of Economics with a major in auditing. My family has 5 people: parents, younger brother, younger sister and me. My father used to work as an electrician before becoming a farmer, while my mother has been a dedicated employee at the local hospital. I heard stories that when my father was young, he excelled academically, but due to financial struggles and the chaos of war, he could only complete high school. Nonetheless, he still managed to tutor his peers to help them pass their university entrance exams. From a young age, my siblings and I were encouraged to pursue education, and thanks to our parents' guidance, we achieved numerous academic awards at the city level. My mother also came from a large, impoverished family and had taken on various manual labor jobs to support her family's needs, from collecting recyclables to harvesting rice and sewing garments. Despite the hardships, my parents worked tirelessly to provide the best for us, ensuring that we never had to worry about our basic needs.
From a young age, my siblings and I were encouraged to pursue education, and thanks to our parents' guidance, we achieved numerous academic awards at the city level.
Inspired by their resilience, during my university years, I actively participated in volunteer projects, assisting children and villagers in remote areas, as well as volunteering at hospitals. Through these experiences, I gained a deeper understanding of the sacrifices my parents made for our family's well-being. Driven by a desire to give back and help others, I discovered the organization Giving It Back To Kids. Impressed by its diverse philanthropic programs, which included charitable house, scholarships for underprivileged students, wheelchair program and many other programs, I applied for a position in the organization's accounting department. Thankfully, I was given the opportunity to join the organization for a trial position in December 2023.
Under the guidance of Ms. Phan Thi Ngoc Van, the chief accountant and my leader, I received dedicated support and encouragement to grow professionally. Immersed in the organization's programs, I found it to be an ideal environment to channel my efforts towards helping others, supporting struggling families, and honing my own abilities. Every day, I feel grateful for the chance to make a positive impact and strive for personal development within the compassionate community of Giving It Back To Kids.
